We are a small family owned kennel located on 15 acres near Benson, MN. We believe that the Labrador Retriever is the ultimate working dog and family companion.
- We raise a few litters of chocolate and black Labrador Retrievers each year. My wife, Peggy, and daughters, Brenna and Susan, do a fantastic job of socializing every pup in every litter, so our puppies are ready for their new homes and families when it is time to leave Brensue Labs.
- My breeding philosophy is to breed our females to males whose pedigrees have titled dogs in multiple venues focusing on breeding to expand the chocolate bloodlines by outcrossing with the larger genetic pool of the black bloodlines. When you see APLA titled dogs in the pedigree you don't have to ask if the dog "hunts" because those tests focus on using the nose to find upland birds and/or titled in the AKC or HRC for the marking ability with the dog using the eyes for retrieving. We genetically test all of our dogs (EVEN THOUGH WE KNOW THEY ARE CLEAR BY PARENTAGE) to ensure that the pups we raise tend to be more genetically sound than many of the Labrador puppies being bred by other kennels. All of our dogs are hunted and compete in hunt tests when time allows and are completely amateur trained by me. While this may limit the titles on our dogs based on my time and abilities, our dogs are very trainable, intelligent, and stylish.
